Footpath’s Friend of the Month for August is Medea Kanagawa! We are so grateful for Medea who has helped with our Footpath overnight camp sessions two years in a row. Medea flew across the country from California to help ensure the children from the Boys and Girls Clubs of Cleveland had an unforgettable outdoor experience at Camp Roosevelt-Firebird. Medea instantly connects with these kids and she serves as a positive mentor who they look up to.
Medea also facilitated a favorite camp activity and creative outlet, tie-dying, which all of the campers loved. The t-shirts they created provided an important keepsake for them to take home. Medea is a valuable part of giving kids lasting memories they can hold onto when times are tough. This will encourage them to become productive and resilient adults. Thank you Medea for prioritizing Footpath and helping to change kids’ lives! Read more about what motivates Medea to volunteer for Footpath:
Why do you support Footpath?
“I support Footpath because I strongly believe in its mission. The outdoors have so many lessons for kids to learn. It teaches them that there is only one planet and that we need to respect and take care of it so the future can enjoy its beauty.”
What’s your favorite outdoor activity? “Playing outside until the fireflies came out – that’s when we knew it was time for bed.”
What’s an outdoor activity you’d love to try? “I’d love to go white water rafting and fly fish.”
Favorite vacation spot? “Too many to pick just one! Kauai, Costa Rica, Mexico, Northern California & Northern Michigan.”
Favorite season and why? “Summer! The days are long and you can be outside all day!”
Anything you’d like to say about Footpath and/or the work you have done for us? “I am so proud of what Footpath has created! I’ve been volunteering at camp for 2 summers now and each time it has made such an impact on my life. Being able to see these kids’ expressions on their faces when they conquer their fears, try something for the first time, or are just in pure happiness has been priceless.”
